3 Ways To Enjoy June in the ‘Burgh!

Temperatures are up, the sun is appearing more often…it’s officially June in the Steel City! Even better, as tempting as running off to the beach is this time of year, Pittsburgh has plenty of enjoyable seasonal activities that we can all participate in right here at home. We’re especially looking forward to enjoying the following:
  • The Arts Festival. The locally beloved Three Rivers Arts Festival is just days away - set to run from June 3rd to June 12th. With it comes a great opportunity to browse through incredible local artworks and crafts while listening to fantastic musicians. Not sure if you want to go? Just check out the list of vendors at the Artist Market, or the list of shows and events. We bet you'll find something of interest on there. Even the Pittsburgh Symphony will be taking part in the Festival - and it’s free to browse through and listen to everything there! Just be ready to get out the wallet if you actually want to take some wares home with you.
  • The outdoors. Hey, if the sun is out, it's probably a good idea to take advantage of it while you can in this town! With groups like Venture Outdoors in the city and locations like the Laurel Highlands not too far away, it’s easier than ever to get outside. But hey: even if you’re not up for kayaking or hiking, there’s plenty of things for you to do that will get you out of your normal routine! Outdoor yoga classes, “open streets”, local 5Ks…there really is something for everyone on this list of local activities.
  • The Point (and everything surrounding it!). No summer in Pittsburgh is complete without a walk to the Point. And sunset at the Point is just beautiful. But why stop there? With Station Square and the Gateway Clipper fleet a quick T-ride away, and the Pittsburgh Pirates set to play for weeks to come, there are ample opportunities for you to enjoy classic views of the city - without ever needing to get into a car or invest in hours of travel!
Those are a few of our favorite things about June in Pittsburgh. What about you? Did we include or miss your favorite part of this month in the Steel City? Let us know in the comments!
